Operating License No. DPR-16 Docket No. 50-219 NRC's Request For Additional Information (RAI) Regarding Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) Integrity At Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station Your letter dated April 29,1998 requested additional information regarding Oyster Creek RPV materials within 90 days of the receipt of the letter in order to complete the NRC staff's review of our response to Generic Letter 92-01, Revision 1. %pplement 1," Reactor Vessel Structural Integrity".

Subsequently, the BWR Vessel and Internals Project (VIP) group proposed a task to prepare a responsejointly in order to maintain consistency in industry response and to ease the NRC staff's review process. The BWRVIP discussed this approach with Mr. Keith Wichman and Ms. Andrea Lee of the Chemistry / Material Branch of NRR, and they indicated that this would be an acceptable approach. Rather than duplicate an effort, GPU Nuclear decided to wait until the decision is reached by the BWRVIP en whether thejoint response would be developed.

Recently, however, BWRVIP members voted to develop plant-specitic responses on an individual basis. Therefore, GPU Nuclear will prepare its own response to your April 29,1998 RAI and plan to submit it by September 4,1998.
