SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE ,

I.  :

October 1982 t" [

r.

U

- Unit 2 was shutdown for the month for the 8th cycle scheduled refueling on age.

c [

i- .

I

, 13us pressurizer investigation identified cracks or crack indications in 18 of 28 -

I- pressurizer heater sleeves that were initially designated as leaking. All l i: ~ cracks were axial and confined to the top 2 inches of the-sleeves. Three axial i

+

cracks were identified in the leaking pressurizer instrument nozzle at the insido of pressurizer. The cracks were characterized as Primacy Water Stress Corrosion Cracks since the material microstructure and fabrication history i suggests a susceptibility to this form of attack.

All 120 pressurizer heater sleeves are currently being replaced. .

The Unit is scheduled to return to service in the Spring of 1990.
