==Dear Mr. Denton:==
Your letter of August 8, 1979, on the above subject requested licensees to review their station electric distribution systems to determine analytically that they are of sufficient capacity and capability to automatically start as well as operate all required safety loads. Our letter, Serial No. 352A, dated August 16, 1979, provided the results of our analysis for North Anna Unit 1 in response to Mr. D. B. Vasallo's letter of May 2, 1979. Our letter, Serial No. 403A, dated August 7, 1979, provides similar analysis results for North Anna Unit 2. You have also requested that the analysis of the onsite distribution of power from the offsite source be verified by test. Please find attached a copy of the proposed test program for North Anna which is scheduled for mentation after North Anna Unit 2 becomes operational.

Test results will be forwarded as soon as they become available.

Subject:

North Anna Power Station Units 1 and 2 Surry Power Station Units 1 and 2 Adequacy of Station Electric Distribution System Voltages

Dear Mr. Denton:

Please find attached a copy of the proposed test program for North Anna which is scheduled for imple-mentation after North Anna Unit 2 becomes operational. Test results will be forwarded as soon as they become available.

In accordance with your instructions, we have examined the North Anna electric power systems to determine if there are any conditions that could result in the simultaneous loss of both offsite sources. We have determined that our system complies with GDC17 with respect to redun-dancy with the possible exception of two areas which require more in-depth analysis. These areas involve 1) a 34.5KV tie breaker and auto-matic transfer scheme between the two 34.5KV buses in the switchyard and 2) the switchyard service transformers which are fed' from the two 34.5KV buses. The results of our further analysis in these two areas will be completed and. forwarded to you within 45 days of the date of this letter.
