IVIQ7 IU ~AJ~JU.UU~ r~y~ I-Indian Point Energy Center Status Report May 16, 2006 Operational Status - 2R17 Outage Indian Point Unit 2 went into Mode 4 Hot standby on Sunday and remains in Mode 4 awaiting heatup of the system. The unit should be in MODE 3 later tonight.

Maintenance crews are conducting post maintenance testing of systems and components repaired during the outage including recirculation pumps, main generator and turbine. The Vapor Containment equipment hatch is closed with the air lock repositioned in the hatch.

At left, operatorsconduct inspectionsof he weld channels in the Vapor ontainment Below, workers are checking on the ondensate long loop recirculation alves.

Concrete shield blocks have been replaced inside the containment.

The concrete shield blocks protect equipment. The large steel structure is a steam generator; next to and behind the generatoris the Pressurizer.

Unit 3 is operati ng at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 224 days.

As a follow up to the chemical analyses conducted on the Unit 1 containment spray sump, Entergy continues to sample additional wells near Unit one and the sump for the presence of PCBs. To date, only one sample showed very trace levels of PCB's at

.12 ppb. Radiochemistry samples have not yet been analyzed.
