Groundwater Investigation Update

  • The last monitoring well on the riverfront (MW-67) has been vacuum drilled and 48 of the nearly 200 feet have been drilled. This the last well planned in the investigation
  • The inspection of the transfer canal continues. The evaporation and temperature tests in the transfer canal have shown consistency with water levels in the pool.
  • Entergy will continue the tracer test around the IP2 spent fuel building for another three months.

Routine sampling has recommenced in the monitoring wells around IP2 and IP1 that were suspended during the tracer tests

  • The positive tritium result reported in the sewage line at Indian Point has been confirmed to be a false positive to due to interference in the sample matrix S Collection of fish sample has begun this week and will continue for a couple of weeks. The sample location will include the two points near the plant that are part of the Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program as well as one farther upriver in the Catskills. The fish will be analyzed for Sr-90. The NRC and DEC will also participate in the fish collection and testing.
