SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On April 2, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Plymouth Town Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The NRC conducted the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station for 2012.

A notice of the open house was issued on March 27, 2013, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML13086A590.

ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC presented poster boards, fact sheets and reading material and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2012, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13060A340). The NRC poster boards, fact sheets and reading material presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station can be found on the NRC's web site at:

www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, local officials, State officials, and members of the media attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Pilgrims performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
