On August 11, 2010, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed a security inspection of the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Perry, Ohio. The purpose of the inspection was to evaluate whether the protection of the ISFSI was in compliance with the Perry Physical Security Plan (PSP) and the NRC Order EA-09-073, "Issuance of Order for Implementation of Additional Security Measures and Fingerprinting for Unescorted Access for Perry Nuclear Power Plant Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation," dated April 7, 2009. In addition, the inspector verified the location of your instrument calibrator containing a radioactive source greater than the International Atomic Energy Administration (IAEA) Category 2 threshold as listed in Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 20 Appendix E, and determined that its use and storage was conducted safely and in accordance with 10 CFR Part 20 requirements. At the conclusion of the on-site inspection on August 11, 2010, the inspector discussed the inspection findings with members of your security and radiation protection staff.
