SUBJECT:
SHG9 TING INCIDENT OFFSITE INVOLVING FSV SECURITY OFFICER On May 29, 1989, at about I:30 a.m., two teenagers were shot by an off-duty Ft.
St. Vrain contract security guard. The teenagers were shot while attending a high school graduation party in Platteville, Colorado. One teenager was killed and the other is in stable condition at a hospital in Greeley, Colorado.
According to media sources, the security guard had assaulted his girlfriend outside an apartment where the graduation party was in progress. The girlfriend went inside the apartment where the party was in progress and told the participants what had happened to her. Several teenage males responded and confronted the security guard and the shooting followed. The guard was arrested at 5:00 a.m. on May 29, and is presently being held for murder.
The licensee has responded to riews media inquiries.
The licensee plans to issue a press release.
The state of Colorado will be informed.
Region IV received notification of this occurrence from the licensee on May 29, 1989.
