SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 48 HOURS The licensee has initiated a plant shutdown that is estimated to last approximately 35 days. The shutdown is required to replace helium coolant circulator 10. The circulator developed a wobble and penetration interspace seal leak of purified helium.
The senior resident inspector is monitoring licensee activity.
Neither the licensee nor the NRC plans to issue a press release, but is prepared to respond to media inquiries.
The state of Colorado will be informed.
Region IV received notification of this occurrence by telecon from H00 at 11:55 p.m. (CDT) on July 28, 1987. Region IV has informed NRR.
