Completion of 100-hour NSSS Acceptance Test At approximately 10:40 a.m. (CDT), August 24, 1988, Houston Lighting & Power Company (HL&P) completed the 100-hour Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS)
Acceptance Test at the South Texas Project, Unit 1 (STP-1). This completes HL&P's planned startup testing at STP-1. Upon completion of a review of the startup test results by the licensee's Plant Operations Review Comittee, STP-1 will be in a position to begin comercial operation. .
The licensee plans to issue a press release when it declares STP-1 in comercial service. Region IV has responded to media inquiries regarding completion of the NSSS Acceptance Test.
The state of Texas will be informed.
