Dresden Unit 2 Notification of an Unusual Event Morris, IL 60450 Alert Site Area Emergency Docket No. 50-237 General Emergency V X Not Applicable Subj!ct: SHUTDOWN TO CLEAN MAIN CONDENSER On S;ptember 17, 1986, the licensee shut the reactor down to permit cleaning of the main cond:nser. Condenser tubes had become partially blocked by clams / clam shells. Similar problems of fouling of the condenser have been experienced in the past. Other maintenance work is also planned with restart expected no sooner than September 19, 1986.
Th resident inspector was present in the control room during portions of the plant shutdown.
The State of Illinois will be informed.
