Our office has received the draft operation inspection report for the McGuire Nuclear Station

. Standby Nuclear Service Water Pond Dam. The inspection was conducted on October 28,1998. i The. draft report states 'that the dam appeared to be in good condition and adequately maintained. No significant problems or discrepancies were noted. Two recommendations to  :

improve the maintenance checks for the structure were provided.

' Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has reviewed the draft document, and is in general agreement with your findings. Given the condition of the structure, the quality of maintenance i records, and low-hazard nature of the dam, no changes to the draft report are warranted. Prior to issuance of the Final Report, we request that if there are significant changes, you discuss L your findings with us. We would appreciate receiving the final report within 30 days of the date -!
