1.2 SCOPE The scope of this procedure covers the job requirenents, specific duties , qualifications , on-the-job training and documentation for personnel performing calibration of M&TE.

2.0 DEFINITIO'NS

1. Certified Calibration Personnel - individuals certified by tne Calibration Supervisor to perform calibration of specific l items of M&TE.
2. M&TE - Measuring and Test Equipment including items with designations as M&TE, CT (Calibrated Tool) and RS (Reference Standard).
3. On-the-Job Trainina - Training on-the-job to provide a satisfactory level of competence in given calibration tasks.

, 3.0 PROCEDURE 3.1 JOB

SUMMARY

Certified calibration personnel perform calibration of M&TE items (M&TE, CT and RS); document calibration performed; prepare and aid in preparation of procedures for calibration; develop files; issue and receive calibrated items to the field; instruct in the on-the-job training program; and perform tasks as assigned by the j Calibration Supervisor. l

{ 3.2 SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. Perform calibration of M&TE to reference standards (RS) and make necessary adjustments to insure accuracy of the item.

l 2. Prepare necessary documentation of all calibration and service performed.

3. Prepare Deficient M&TE Evaluation Forms when required.

4. Develop procedures for new M&TE as required.
5. Issue and receive M&TE to field craf ts and document such l issues on the Issue Record Card.

l 5. Prepare field requisitions (FR) for purchases recuired by the Calibration Facility.

l l 7. Provide on-the-job training instruction as required.

3.3 . QUALIFICATIONS A high school education or equivalent is required. Experience in calibration techniques and procedures, as evidenced by resume or demonstration of performance in assigned tasks is desirable. In lieu of specific experience, the Calibration Supervisor, at his discretion, may allow skill development through an on-the-job training program as outlined in this procedure.

3.4 ON-THE-JOB TRAINING 3.4.1 Trainino Recuirements i On-the-job training will be provided for personnel whose experience or expertise does not provide the required level of competency to perform a specific calibration task. This training will be provided by Certified Calibration Personnel or manufacturer's representatives and documented.

An individual will be considered trained when he can competently perform calibration of an M&TE f tem to the instructor's satisfac-tion.

3.4.2 Lesson Plans A lesson plan for each item (or type of item) of M&TE will be developed to provide uniformity in training and will include the operation, use and care of the M&TE item, proper use and care of

standards used and understanding of the procedure to be used in calibration of the item.

3.4.3 Visual Acuity Test All personnel performing calibration shall be tested for near distance acuity in accordance with QI-QAP-2.1-1, " Nondestructive Examination Personnel Certification". The visual acuity test is to be performed on an annual basis. Documentation of the test will be maintained in the individual's qualification folder.

JOB 3E-1195 CP-CFM-2.1 1 ,f 5/11/81 4 Of 4 3.5 DOCUMENTATION 3.5.1 Document of Oualification A Document of Qualification (Figure 2.1-1) will be prepared for each individual, certifying his qualification to perform calibra-tion under each individual procedure (IEI). Qualification will be based on education, experience, on-the-job training or any combination thereof. Confirmation of qualification will be indicated on the Document of Qualification by the Calibration Supervisor's signature and the date of qualification. l 3.5.2 Lesson Plan / Training Record A Lesson Plan / Training Record (Figure 2.1-2) will be used to document all training received in the on-the-job training pro-gram for an individual indicating the time spent in instruction, the instructor's signature and the date of training. Training will be confirmed by the Calibration Supervisor's signature l and date of confirmation.

i 3.6 DOCUMENTATI0f$ RECORDS All documenta: tion records will be considered permanent construc-tion records.. These records originate in the Calibr.ation Facility, with the original record being retained there for the length of the job.
