In accordance with Operating License NPF-68, License Condition 2.C(7)c, enclosed is the supplemental summary report on the Vogtle Unit I control room des",a review.

, Information which responds to the NRC's request for additional infortration of May 4, 1987 is provided in the enclosed report. The NRC request for additional information concerned the Vogtle Unit I control room preliminary environmental survey which was ,

submitted to the NRC by Georgia Power Company letter SL-2253 dated April ,  ;

Some additional Operator Surveys addressed in the Detailed Control  ;

Room Design Review Report were received after the report was written. l These surveys will be analyzed and should they have a significant impact i on the results provided, a supplemental report.will be submitted to the  !

NRC. The schedule for submittal of a supplemental report, should one be l necessary, is by April 1, 1988. l The enclosed report also contains information required by License l Condition 2.C.7(b) concerning the Safety Parameter Display System l (SPDS). With regard to that license condition, please be advised that as l a result of experiencing hardware failures with the Process Effluent i Radiation Monitoring System (PERMS) we have been unable to perform the  !

SPDS availability test. All identified PERHS hardware-related items are scheduled to be complete within six weeks.

GeorgiaPower A U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission February 29, 1988 Page_Two The "deltas" for the interchannel comparison check have been received from Engineering and will necessitate some software changes to the SPDS.

The necessary changes will be made prior to the SPDS availability run.

The availability testing, which consists of-a 1000-hour run, will follow the completion of the PERHS hardware-related items and the software changes to the SPDS. The- 1000-hour availability test of the SPDS is scheduled to be completed by June 1, 1988.

Six copies of the enclosed report are provided for your convenience.

A copy of the report is being provided to NRC Region II for its review.
