SumARY OF MEETING ON MANAGEMNT AND STAFFING

A meeting was held with representatives of Louisiana Power & Light Company in Bethesda. Maryland on September 29.1981 (attendance list attached). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss LPAL's plans and schedule for resolving their management and staffing short-comings.

4 The utility made a pmsantation in which they described a recent reorganization in corporate management. This appears to be a positive step towards resolvin, the staff's concerns. Also, the applicant prwsented infomation on the quali-fications of the technical advisors who were hired to compensate for the lack of causercial nuclear emperience in LP&L's corporate management. The staff believes that these advisors have acceptable qualifications. However, the staff will reserve judpent on licensee qualification until after the audit.

The staff and app 1tcant tentatively agmed on the following schedule:

LPSL submittal - November 16, 1981 Staff and t - December 8-11, 1981 55ER issuance - January 8. 1982 The staff continues to be concerned about LPAL's ability to hire and train an adequate staff prior to the scheduled fuel load date. A meeting was scheduled for October 19. 1981 to discuss their plans for staffing.
