OUTAGE GREATER THAN 48 HOURS TO REPAIR TUBE LEAK A steam generator tube leak rate of .17 gpm was determined to exist in Steam Generator 2 at about 3:15 a.m. July 31, 1982 while Unit 2 was at 100 percent power.
The licensee had been monitoring a fluxuating leak rate and had planned to shutdown at
.15 gpm as a precautionary measure. The technical specification for steam generator teckage is .347 gpm.
Cold shutdown of Unit 2 was completed at 1:11 a.m. (CDT) on August 1, 1982. The licensee estimates that Unit 2 will be down for several days while testing and leak location activities are in progress .
Resident inspectors are onsite following the licensee's action.
The licensee has issued a press release. Region III (Chicago) will respond to inquiries.
The State of Michigan will be notified.
