OIL FIRE OUTSIDE REACTOR BUILDING American Electric Power reported that oil in an oil bath air cleaner >

for diesel generator CD was accidentally ignited at 0830 on 12/4/75.

The air cleaner is located outside the reactor building. .The, oil was ignited by uncovering an electrical heater during draining prior =g-to oil replacement. The Bridgman, Michigan, Fire Department responded to a call from the plant but plant personnel had

.J= extinguished the fire before their arrival. No injuries to t.

personnel or damage to the diesel generator or other facilities -

resulted and the diesel is expected to be returned to service within a few hours.

No press release has been made or is planned by the licensee.

Region III Resident Inspector received notification of this occur-rence by telephone from the Plant Superintendent at 9:30 EST 12/4/75. Region III was notified at 10:45 EST 12/4/75.
