RDARDING RESULTS OF DISCOVERY CONFERENON ' -

\ ,) /

On Set;tember 9,1981, representatives of Applicants and Intervenor Citizens Association for Sound Energy (CASE) met to discuss the status of discovery and their differences regarding certain aspects of discovery.

Since the only outstanding disco 7ery motion or erder between Applicants and CASE was CASE's 3/17/81 Motion to Cctnpel Applicants regarding CASE's 4th Set of Interrogatories (which Pe ', ion the Board granted 7/30/81.', much of the conference was devoted to the ansvers sought in that Motion. Applicants were able to respond to several of CASE's interrogatories in its 4th Set of Interrogal

';ories, thereby clarifying arel expanding upon prior responses to those Interroga-to ies. Applicants agreed to provice written resy;nses to those interrogatories shortly. Applicants also supplied CASE with their response to the NRC Licensing Branch's 7/20/81 letter to TUGC0 regarding Prompt Notification in the Event of an Em u gency, and agreed to supply CASE r.hortly with their response to the NRC -

Licensing Branch's 7/23/81 letter to TUGC0 regarding Review Comments on Emergency Plan, in the ican of a revision to Applicants' Emergency Plan.

Applicants and CASE also briefly discussed CASE's other contentions, even though these contentions were not the subject of any outstandin6 motions. This included discussion of inentification of prospee'.tv

  • aesses of both Arties so that depositions may be taken. Neither pair. 4s able to identify witnesses at this time. However, each agreed that such infor .ation would be timely provided to the other when it becomes available.

In sum, the September 9 ~ meeting was fruitful in helping both Applicants and CASE to understand their respective positions and concerns and in reaching agreement for Applicants to supply CASE with new information and documents in response t.) several of CASE's interrogatories.

Respectfull submitted,
