k NRC STAFF NOTIFICATION OF ISSUANCE OF OPERATING LICENSE FOR COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION. UNIT 2 On January 21,1993, the Commission directed the NRC staff (Staff) to respond to Citizens for Fair Utility Regulation's (CFUR) January 13, 1993 request that the Commission publish in the Federal Register a notice of proposed action with respect to the issuance of an operating license to the Licensee for Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station (CPSES), Unit 2, which would allow affected parties to request a hearing. The Staff's response was filed on January 26,1993. The Commission in a Memorandum and Order dated January 29,1993, CLI-93-01, denied CFUR's request.

In the January 21,1993 Order the Commission additionally requested that the Staff notify it and the parties to this proceeding at least twenty-four hours prior to issuing l a low power license to the Licensee for operation of CPSES, Unit 2 The Staff presently contemplates that it may issue a low-power license for CPSES, Unit 2, as early as February 1,1993 If the license is not issued by February 3,1993, the Staff will update this notification on that date.
