Page 1 of 1 Docket No. 50-339 Report No. LER 80-100/03L-0 Description of Event On December 11, 1980, with the unit in mode 3, RC Loop A Tave Protection Channel 1A LoLo Tave annunciator locked in with actual Tave indicating 547*F and protection channel 1A tave (TI-2412D) indicating 544'F.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The failed channel was placed in the trip mode within I hour as required by the action statement. Since there were redundant channels available from RC Laops E and C, the health and safety of the general public were not affected.

Cause of Event The cause of the failure is not known at this time. The calibration of the channels that supply Tave Protection Channel 1A he, c=tisfactory and all readings were within the required specificatica.

Immediate Corrective Action Upon discovery of this event the channel was placed in the trip mode within 1 hour1.157407e-5 days <br />2.777778e-4 hours <br />1.653439e-6 weeks <br />3.805e-7 months <br /> and a Deviation Report and Emergency Maintenance Request were submitted. The channels supplying Tave Protection Channel 1A were recalibrated satisfactorily and the channel was placed back into service.

Scheduled Corrective Action No further corrective action is required.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence No action is required.
