Dear Mr. Schwencer:

This letter is provided to confirm a March 19, 1984 telephone conversation between Mr. W. W. Williams and M. Sager of PPGL and Mr. D. Terao of your staff regarding our response to FSAR Question 110.57.

As a result of our conversation, we are /amending part d to our response to delete the commitment to visually inspect for vibrational effects on the control rod drive system insert and withdraw lines during steady state conditionsQ Visual inspections on Unit 1 lines revealed no appreciable vibratory effects. In addition, we believe that the flow rates within these lines (2 gpm for the insert lines, 3 gpm for the withdraw lines) is not significant enough to cause any appreciable vibratory effects on the lines.

An FSAR revision reflecting this position will be provided. Should you have any questions, please call.
