Equipment qualification has been an issue of"major concern for some time to PPSL. Following the issuance of IE Bulletin 79-01, a task force was formed within PPttL to review the environmental qualification of our safety-related equipment and recommend changes or requalification, if necessary.

Since that time we have tried to determine, the specific date by which a Susquehanna submittal must be made to NRC to support our licensing schedule.

We have received mixed signals, from various sources within the NRC staff.

Consequently, we plan to follow an accelerated schedule as outlined below:

November 1, 1900 Submit ~E ui ment'dentification List to NRC specifying all Class 1E equipment in a harsh environment and identifying the current level of qualification of that equipment.

April 1, 1901 Submit Re-Evaluation ~Re ort comparing current levels of qualification with the DOR guidelines and identifying the specific equipment which must be replaced or requalified. A requalification plan and schedule will also be described in this report.

June 30, 1902 Submit Final Re uglification ~Re ort identifying the final level of qualification that has been achieved for each item on the Equipment Identification list.
