Dear Mr. Grier:

The enclosed material is being presented in accordance with the requirements of Technical Specification 6.9.3a and b for the period of j'uly 1, 1980 to December 31, 1980 and 6;9.3c(1) for the year 1980.

During the last six months of 1980, 25.4 curies contained in 4,795 cubic feet of solid waste was disposed of at the Barnwell, South Carolina Burial Grounds. Also during this period, 632.1'curies of gaseous effluents were released through the plant vents. Through liquid releases, 63.7 curies of tritium plus 0.0035 ci of other radioactive materials were released.

Tabulations of the above information are included with this report.

During our semiannual leak tests of sealed sources, one source was found with removable contamination greater than 0. 005 micrccuries, the remainder were found to have less than this limit.

NBS Serial 445, Model 4904-D containing 0.45 microcuries of Am-241 was found to have leaked. 0.0113 microcuries of smearable,contami-nation was determined by our leak test.

This source has been removed from service (1/14/81) and is being held until a suitable burial site for low level quantities of transuranics is available for proper disposal.
