OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON APRIL 08, 2011, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND NEXTERA ENERGY SEABROOK, LLC, CONCERNING CLARIFICATION OF INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE SEABROOK STATION REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RESPONSES (TAC NO. ME4028)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra or the applicant), held a telephone conference call on April 08, 2011, to clarify information in the applicant's February 03, 2011, response to the staff's requests for additional information, concerning the Seabrook Station license renewal application (LRA). The telephone conference call was useful in clarifying the applicant's information in the LRA. provides a listing of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a summary of the issues discussed during the call with the applicant.

The applicant had an opportunity to comment on this summary.

TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL SEABROOK STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION Discussion to previous Response to RAI 2.1-2 The staff reviewed the applicant's response to request for additional information (RAI) 2.1-2, dated February 03, 2011. The staffs review determined that the function of a drain line is to contain and pass fluid when required, and it appeared the tail pipes for several non-safety related relief valves should be included within the scope of license renewal and subject to aging management review (AMR) in accordance with 10 CFR 54.4 (a)(2) for spatial interaction. The staff further determined that following inclusion of the drain lines within the scope of license renewal, the applicant's AMR will allow for the evaluation of material and environment combinations to identify aging effects and the suitability of the aging management program.

Response

Following the discussion of the previous RAI response, the applicant stated that they understood what was being requested, and would be able to provide the requested information in a future RAI response letter, planned to be submitted in late April.

Discussion to previous Response to RAI 2.3.3.45-02 In RAI 2.3.3.45-02 response, dated February 03, 2011, the staff noted on license renewal application (LRA) drawing PID-1-WLD-LR20218, at location H-5, that the applicant depicts a relief valve tailpipe connected to relief valve V83 as not being within scope of license renewal.

However, on LRA drawing PID-1-WLD-LR20219, at location F-4, the applicant depicts the tailpipe within scope of license renewal under 10 CFR 54.4(a)(2). The applicant was asked to clarify the scoping classification for the relief valve tailpipe.

Response

Following the discussion of the previous RAI response, the applicant stated that they understood what was being requested, and would be able to provide the requested information in a future RAI response letter planned to be submitted in late April.
