SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC LICENSE RENEWAL OVERVIEW AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCOPING MEETINGS RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE SEABROOK STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NOS. ME3959 AND ME4028)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) conducted license renewal process overview and environmental scoping meetings related to the review of the Seabrook Station license renewal application submitted by NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra). Two public meetings were conducted on Thursday, August 19,2010, at the Galley Hatch Conference Center in Hampton, NH. Approximately 82 people attended the meetings. The attendees included representatives of the NRC, members of the public, citizen organizations, local news media, local and State government officials, and representatives from NextEra. Public comments included concerns that Seabrook is submitting its application too early, severe accidents mitigation alternatives, tritium, emergency planning, submerged electrical cables, and alternatives to license renewal.

A list of attendees for the public meetings is provided in Enclosure 1. Enclosure 2 is a copy of the meeting agenda handed out during the public meeting open house. The official transcripts for both meetings and any written comments submitted during the meetings are publicly available at the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), located at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland 20852, or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The ADAMS Public Electronic Reading Room is accessible at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. The transcripts for the afternoon and evening meetings are listed under Accession Nos.
