UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 July 2, 2014 Mr. Kevin Walsh Site Vice President NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC P.O. Box 300 Seabrook, NH 03874

SUBJECT:

SCHEDULE REVISION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW OF THE SEABROOK STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NOS. ME3959 AND ME4028)

Dear Mr. Walsh:

By [[letter::L-2010-101, Comment (1) of Larry Nicholson, on Behalf of Florida Power & Light Co., on Proposed NUREG-0800, Standard Review Plan for the Review of Safety Analysis Reports for Nuclear Power Plants; Branch Technical Position (BTP) 7-19, Guidance for .|letter dated May 25, 2010]], NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC (NextEra), submitted an application to renew the operating license for Seabrook Station, Unit 1 (Seabrook), for an additional 20 years. In support of the application and in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, NextEra also submitted an environmental report for Seabrook. This letter is to inform you of a change in the environmental review schedule for the Seabrook license renewal review.

In August 2013, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff, NextEra, Friends of the Coast and the New England Coalition reached a settlement agreement regarding resolution of Contention 4D associated with the supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS). Due to the intricacies of the review and analysis, NRC staff requires additional time to complete the final SEIS. The schedule for issuance of the final SEIS has been delayed from July to October 2014.

Enclosed is the NRC staff's revised environmental and safety review schedule for the Seabrook license renewal application. The schedule has been updated to reflect a change in the date of issuance for the final SEIS. A number of milestones continues to be classified as To Be Determined Since the staff is in process of evaluating additional information received form NextEra recently. These TBDs will be updated in a future letter.

If you have any questions on this revised schedule, please contact the NRCs environmental project manager, Ms. Lois James, at 301-415-3306 or by e-mail at lois.james@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/

John W. Lubinski, Director Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-443
