INTRODUCTION The reactor operated continuously in February with the following exceptions: three shutdowns for scheduled maintenance and refueling; one unscheduled shutdown.

MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES 2/3/03 Refueled - removed core 03-04, loaded core 03-05.

Removed and inspected level controller LC965 (Anti-siphon System Rod Run-in).

2/10/03 Refueled - removed core 03-05, loaded core 03-06.

Repaired an air leak on level controller LC965 (Anti-siphon System Rod Run-in).

2/16/03 Refueled - removed core 03-06, loaded core 03-07.

2/17/03 Replaced Primary Temperature Control Valve (S-1) motor.

Replaced Inner Airlock Door motor and gearbox.

2/18/03 Loaded new pool de-ionization bed 'W'.

2/24/03 Refueled - removed core 03-07, loaded core 03-08.

Installed flow gauges in the P-Tube system in accordance with Modification Record 03-1.

Completed Reactor Console upgrade in accordance with Modification Record 01-2.

Replaced Charging Pump Relief Valve (557A).

Repaired broken wire and replaced Intermediate Level Display Board (A4) on Nuclear Instrument Drawer #1.

UNSCHEDULED SHUTDOWNS Date No. Type Cause 2/16/03 1157 Scram Primary Temperature Control Valve (S-i) motor shorted.

On February 16, a Reactor Scram was automatically initiated when the Primary Temperature Control Valve (S-1) motor shorted resulting in an overload condition on Breaker #9 on UPS Panel No. 2. This breaker provides power to the process instrumentation. The loss of power resulted in trip signals from all of the protective system channels. The motor for valve S-1 was replaced and tested satisractorily. The UPS Inverter oscillator board was adjusted to remove an "Out of Sync" alarm resulting from the overload condition. The reactor protective system was verified operable as part of pre-startup checks and the reactor was subsequently returned to operation.
