Briefing package for Exelon Drop-In Another request for a briefing package. I quickly put together a high level summary of the tritium issue from the more detailed ones that have been e-mailed out. Please let me know if you have any comments on this or the operating status summary (again, very high level).Operating Status Currently, Oyster Creek is operating at 100 percent. Oyster Creek's conducted a refueling outage In the Fall of 2008. Significant activities performed during this outage included inspection of the primary containment drywell shell liner and addressing sources of reactor coolant system leakage from the previous operating cycle. Oyster Creek's license was renewed for 20 years on April 8, 2009.Tritium issue During maintenance activities that started on April 13, 2009, the licensee identified tritium contaminated water onsite. In response, the licensee initiated an effort to determine the source of the contaminated water and performed additional sampling of other on-site ground water monitoring wells and the discharge canal.Subsequently, the licensee identified that the source of the leakage was from two lines in the condensate storage system near the condensate storage tank. The licensee is currently in the process of effecting repairs. No activity from this leak has been detected offsite. The licensee notified both the NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the NRC of this discovery in a timely manner. On May 27, 2009, Congressman John H. Adler sent a letter to the NRC requesting additional information on this issue. The NRC staff is in the process of preparing a response.Ed Informaition in this Mcrcod was deleted in accordance with the Freedom of fn4,-----o-Act, exem ti N ,-; -t...FO&.A.1 doo
