sj Battery Cell Parameters B 3.8.6 BASES ACTIONS (continued)

Continued operation is only permitted for 31 days before

'Jattery cell parameters must be restored to within

' Category A and B limits. Taking into consideration that, while battery capacity is degraded, sufficient capacity exists to perform the intended function and to allow time to fully restore the battery cell parameters to normal limits, this time is acceptable for operation prior to declaring the DC batteries inoperable.

IL1 When any battery parameter is outside the Category C limit for any connected cell, sufficient capacity to supply the maximum expected load requirement is aot ensured and the corresponding DC electrical powe ystem must be declared inoperable. Additionally, ot tially extreme conditions.-such as.not c ng Required Actions of Condition A within the r d,CompleMon Time or average below 60*F. also arff, ause Wl,esentat% cells falling electrolyte temperature o f g rimmediately declaring the associated DC electfictijpowerlsubsystem inoperable.

REQUIREMENTS pgy

' Sis SRWinr1Nes that Category A battery cell parameters are cesistelttiwith IEEE 450 (Ref. 3), which recommends regular batteryd'stspections (at least one per month) including voltagelf specific gravity, and electrolyte temperature of pilot' cells.

SR 3.8.6.2 The quarterly inspection of specific gravity and voltage is consistent with IEEE 450 (Ref. 3). In addition, within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
of a battery discharge < 105 V or a battery overcharge : S Y fr-Ci^:i:irr xd > 145 V,fe Ci;icirr 'E the battery must be demonstristed to meet Category B limits. Transients, such as motor starting transients, which may momentarily caus~e battery voltage to drop to s 105 V do not constitute a battery discharge provided the battery terminal voltage and float current l FERMI UNIT-2 B 3.8.6-3 Revision 2 01/18/99 E
