The Honorable Claiborne Pell United States Senate Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Pell:
Thank you for your inquiry on behalf of your constituents, John and Eva Hardiman, concerning the disposition of their letter to the NRC dated March 13, 1987.
/
The Hardimans' letter to the NRC was docketed as comment #447 for the proposed rulemaking entitled " Licensing of Nuclear Power Mnts Where State and/or Local Governments Decline to Cooperate in Offsite E rgency Planning" (52 FR 6980).
A postcard was mailed to the Hardimans frorp he NRC during the week of April 20, 1987, to acknowledge receipt of theirfretter. Because a specific response at this time could constitute a prejudgment of the current rulemaking, the Hardimans' comments will be considere by the NRC along with other comments on the proposed rule.
Please tell your constituents' ft at if they have any further questions, they may call the NRC contact for Jhe proposed rulemaking Peter G. Crane, Office of the General Counsel (202-63 41465). If I may be of further assistance, please let me know.
Sincerely,
/ Victor Stello, Jr.

Dear Senator Pell Het NRC & Attached Letter 1
Please look into this problem of a not-to-be influenced NRC l Commission. Although they gave a 60 day public discussion period on the rule back on esfety precautions for nuclear plant start-ups, they have not chnaged their course, not even acknowledged receipt of our letter. They need an an overview.
Thank you.
Sincerely.
