' SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORTS 50-266/98015(DRS); 50-301/98015(DRS)

Dear Mr. Reddemann: ,

On July 31,1998, the NRC completed an inspection at your Point Beach Nuclear Plant. The

,

enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.

' Areas examined included your efforts in addressing the actions requested in NRC Generic I

'

Letter (GL) No. 96-01, " Testing of Safety Related Logic Circuits." Within those areas, the

inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, r

observation of performance, and interviews with staff. The objective of the inspection effort was -

to determine whether activities authorized by the license were conducted safely and in

accordance with NRC requirements.

Based on the results of this inspection, no violations of NRC requirements were identified. l

The NRC inspectors determined that your GL No. 96-01 program effectively demonstrated that l

safety related logic circuits requiring testing were being identified and properly tested. l

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its )

enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR). j
