SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE April 1990 '

4 The unit began-the monthiin a' continuation of the maintenance shutdown ~.

On April 13, 1990,Ethe unit was takenlcritidaliand than paralleled at.1529. <

q This ended a.342 day outage which began in' order to investigate potentialo

~

Pressurizer _ Heater: leakage that was discovered on Unit 2. "

t 1The unit was at less-than 30% power level;whengtho Excore/Incore. Axial Shape l Indexf(ASI) was found.out of~ administrative limits. ;The' breaker was opened at 0321.on'AprilE14, while the ASI delta.was evaluated' 'The unit'was paralleled at-

~

1946 and escalated to 30% power for furtherl testing and' shakedown. 3

~

-On April 17'at 0506, the breaker'.wasl opened due to.#12~Feedwater; Regulating--

Valve.(FRV) malfunction.< After repairs were completed,-the breaker wasiclosed 'i at 2225 and began a slow escalation'to 100%.

On April 22 at 0800, 100% power (868 MWe) was reached'with both 16 Feedwater

' Heaters out-of-service and the 2nd Stage Reheater'off. ~The powertlevel romained there for various. operational and performance tests until 2210 when:a, slow ramp. i l down began. <

At 0431 on April 23, the breaker was. opened and at 05'39 the reactor'was shutdown .

to'begin a scheduled'10 week outage for~ Steam Generator, Eddy. Current testing.s [

The unit ended the month in a scheduled maintenance outage'and is expecte'd to  ;

restart on July 15, 1990.
