SUMMARY

OF MAY 3, 2016, PUBLIC MEETING WITH ENERGY NORTHWEST TO DISCUSS UPCOMING LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST REGARDING EMERGENCY CONTROL ROOM CHILLER SYSTEM FOR COLUMBIA GENERATING STATION (CAC NO. MF7593)

On May 3, 2016, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Energy Northwest, the licensee, at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the licensee's upcoming license amendment request (LAR) regarding emergency control room chiller system for Columbia Generating Station. The meeting notice and agenda, dated April 22, 2016, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML16111A018. A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1.

The licensee's presentation, available at ADAMS Accession No. ML16134A172, included the LAR's purpose, system description, licensing history and current licensing basis, and LAR approach and analysis.

The NRC staff queried the licensee on any operator actions that would be required for this LAR and how they would be accounted for and analyzed. The licensee described the current consideration of this effects related to the LAR. The licensee was asked about the operation of the future system during low load periods, fall and winter. The licensee responded by describing the operational scheme for the system during those periods.

One member of the public called into the meeting. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
