ENCLOSURE 4 CPELL POSITION ON TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENT

CP&L POSITION ON TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENT FOR ALTERNATE MINIFLOW ISOLATION VALVES The operability of the motor-operated valves associated with the alternate miniflow system is required for Charging and Safety Injection Pump (CSIP) operability. If an alternate miniflow valve becomes inoperable, a 72 hour8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
Limiting Condition for Operation would exist for the associated CSIP under the existing Technical Specifications, The safety injection portion of the alternate miniflow isolation valve logic signal is already tested in accordance with Technical Specifications. The pressure signal to the motor-operated valve logic is a portion of the safety injection required actions; therefore, similar to the Auxiliary Feedwater System, verification of actual actuation will be performed every eighteen months. Calibration of the pressure transmitters is already included in Technical Specifications (as part of the Reactor Vessel Level Instrumentation System) and is performed on a refueling interval. Based on the above, CP&L has determined that no changes to Technical Specifications are required.
