NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTOF EXTENDED POWER UPRATE REGARDING BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 (TAC NOS. MC3812, MC3743, AND MC3744)

Dear Mr. Hurt:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed the draft EnvironmentalAssessment (EA) regarding the Tennessee Valley Authority's (TVA's) application for extended power uprate (EPU) for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Units 1, 2, and 3. Enclosed is a copy of the draft EA. The associated Federal Register Notice of Availability, was published onNovember 6, 2006 (71 FR 65009). This notice advises the public that the draft EA is publicly available at the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www/nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams/web-based.html. The accession number for the draft EAis ML062260093. The NRC staff found that the proposed action would not result in any significant impacts to anyFederally listed species or critical habitat. Also, the NRC has issued a draft Finding of No Significant Impact. The public comment period for the EA closes on December 6, 2006.
