STEAM DRYER BENCHMARKING REPORT (TAC NOS.

MC3812, MC3743, AND MC3744)

During a teleconference between NRC and TVA on February 13, 2006, it was agreed that TVA would provide NRC with benchmarking, scale model testing, and stress analysis reports for BFN steam dryer performance under EPU operating conditions.

Enclosed is "GENE-0000-0049-6652-01,General Electric Boiling Water Reactor Steam Dryer Scale Model Test Based Fluctuating Load Definition Methodology - March 2006 Benchmark Report."

The report version in Enclosure 1 contains information that the General Electric Company (GE) considers to be proprietary in nature and subsequently, pursuant to 10 CFR 9.17(a)(4), 2.790(a)(4) and 2.790(d)(1), requests that such information be withheld from public disclosure. contains an affidavit from GE supporting this request.

contains the redacted version of the report, with the GE proprietary material removed, which is suitable for public disclosure.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 March 9, 2006 Additionally, in letters to NRC on December 19, 2005 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML053560186 and ML053560194) concerning TS-418 and TS-431, TVA stated that a status report providing additional steam dryer performance information would be provided to NRC by March 31, 2006.

In that regard, the steam dryer scale model testing (SMT) final report will be provided to the NRC by April 15, 2006, and the dryer stress analysis report will be provided to the NRC by May 5, 2006.

These dates correspond to the dates given in the enclosure to the March 1, 2006, letter from NRC to TVA on the revised schedule for review of TS-418 and TS-431.
