SUBJECT:

CLOSED APRIL 26-27, 2007, MEETING WITH TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY AND AREVA, ON EXTENDED POWER UPRATE (TAC NOS. MC3743 AND MC3744)

On April 26 and 27, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with representatives of AREVA (Framatome, ANP) and Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the licensee for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 2 and 3, at the AREVA offices in Richland, Washington. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss several of the individual March 7, 2006, Request for Additional Information (RAI) responses. The TVA responses to ten of the individual RAI responses (SRXB-A.26 through SRXB-A.35), which are associated with AREVA analysis methodology, were discussed in detail. As a result, TVA agreed to clarify four of the subject SRXB RAI responses to better support NRCs review of the Units 2 and 3 extended power uprate license amendment applications.

TVAs revised response to the four SRXB RAIs, dated May 11, 2006, also lists the remaining six RAI responses that the NRC indicated were satisfactory. This letter may be accessed electronically from NRCs Agency wide Documents Access and management System using No. ML061360148. A list of meeting participants is enclosed.

At the close of the meeting, no members of the public were in attendance. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
