EnclosedisacopyofthefinalexercisereportoftheFebruary22,1989,exerciseoftheoffsiteradiological emergency preparedness planssite-specific totheSusquehanna SteamElectricStation.Thiswasafull-participation, after-hours, andunannounced exercisewiththeCommonwealth ofPennsylvania, LuzerneandColumbiaCounties, 26riskmunicipalities, andthesupportcountiesofLackawanna,

Lycoming, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Union,andWyoming.ThisfinalexercisereportwaspreparedbytheRegionIIIofficestaffoftheFederalEmergency Management Agency.Onedeficiency wasidentified asaresultofthenon-participation ofBriarCreekBorough.Aremedialexercisewasconducted onJune1,1989,whichsuccessfully corrected thedeficiency.

Theresultsoftheremedialexerciseareincludedinthereport.Inadditionseveralareasrequiring corrective actionwereidentified.

Ascheduleofcorrective actionshasbeenincludedinthereport.BasedontheFebruary22,1989,exerciseandtheJune1,1989,remedialexercise, theoffsiteradiological emergency preparedness isadequatetoprovidereasonable assurance thatappropriate measurescanbetakentoprotectthehealthandsafetyofthepublicintheeventofanaccidentattheSusquehanna SteamElectricStation.Ifyoushouldhaveanyquestions, pleasecontactCraigS.Wingo,Chief,Technological HazardsDivision, at646-3026.
