6z REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE SECRETARY 434 WALNUT STREET C '

PHILAOELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA 19105 August 9, 1979 Stains Ot MEMORANDUM TO: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Nashington, D.C. 20555 Attn: Director, Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis

SUBJECT:

Draft Environmental Impact Statement-Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 5 2 Ne have reviewed the subject draft EIS and offer the following comments.

From a transportation point of view, the statement did not discuss the impacts to existing highways in the area by traffic traveling to and from the plant. The transporta-tion of nuclear fuels and the crossing of highway's with power transmission lines has been mentioned. i'awhile there should be no significant impacts, the statement could answer the following questions:

1. Have the access points been designated and coordinated with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation?
2. Would the travel trips by the 400 employees affect the level of traffic service on the existing highways?

Ne appreciate the opportunity to comment on this document.
