\. DAVIS-BESSE UNIT ONE NUCLEAR POWER STATION SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR LER NP-33-77-66 DATE OF EVENT: August 24, 1977 FACILITY: Davis-Besse Unit 1 I

IDENTIFICATION OF OCCURRENCE: Decay Heat Pump 1-2 was made inoperable to install union in cooling water line.

Conditions Prior to Occurrence: The plant was in Mode 2, with Power (MWT) = 0 and Load OL'E) = 0.

Description of Occurrence: On August 24, 1977 at 0915 hours0.0106 days
0.254 hours
0.00151 weeks
3.481575e-4 months
, Decay Heat Pu=p 1-2 was taken out of service to install a union on the Component Cooling Water Return line. This placed the Station in Action State =ent (a) of Technical Specification 3.5.2 since one of the two Decay Heat Pu-ps required in Mode 2, startup, was removed from service.

Designation of Apparent Cause of Occurrence: This was a planned =aintenance activity. There was a loose piping connection on the inboard side of the Component Cooling Water Return line for Decay Heat Pump 1-2. a union was installed in the line to allow tightening without re= oval of previously installed seismic supports.

Analysis of Occurrence: There was no danger to the health and safety of the public or Station personnel. Decsy Heat Pump 1-1 was still available to operate in the event of an accident.

Corrective Action: The union was installed, completing the scheduled =aintenance.

Decay Heat Pump 1-2 was returned to service at 1515 hours0.0175 days
0.421 hours
0.0025 weeks
5.764575e-4 months
on August 24, 1977, removing the Station from Action Statement (a) of Technical Specification 3.5.2.

Failure Data: There have been no previous occurrences involving Decay Heat Pump 1-2 for planned maintenance.
