TOLEDO EDISON COMPAIN DAVIS-BESSE UNIT ONE NUCLEAR POWER STATION SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FOR LER NP-33-77-64 DATE OF EVENT: August 27, 1977 FACILITY,: Davis-Besse Unit 1 IDENTIFICATION OF OCCURRENCE: Reactor Coolant Pump Motor 1-1-2 was declared inoperable on August 27, 1977.
The plant was in Mode 2, with Power (MWT) = 125 Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

Reactor Coolant Pump Motor 1-1-2 tripped at 1740 hours0.0201 days <br />0.483 hours <br />0.00288 weeks <br />6.6207e-4 months <br /> Description of Occurrence:
on August 27, 1977, with instantaneous ground (50GS) and differential current relay (87m/A-B-C) targets indicating the fault. This placed the Station into the Action Statement of Technical Specification 3.4.1 since one of the two Reactor Coolant Pumps in the loop were not in operation.

Coolant Pump 1-1-2 motor terminal box, Station maintenance personnel discove;ed It has been determined by Westing-B&C phase surge capacitors to be damaged.

Station maintenance personnel replaced A phase surge capacitor with a new one.78-470, the capacitors on al1 ~four Reactor Coolant per Facility Change Request Pump motors have been replaced with new units which incorporate a new design mount-2 ing base as of January 20, 1979.
