TOLEDO EDISON COMPANY DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR F0WER STATION Appendix B, Report Per Section 5.4.2.B, Report NP-ll-80-01 the beach well sample collected at Location T-7 (0.9 miles On October 22, 1977, Thls is NNW of the station), indicated the tritium concentration was 1040 pCi/1.

The quarterly sample, approximately three times normal background levels.A series of additional samples collected on January 14, 1980, showed 960 pCi/1.

The results were received from the company 28, 1980.

March 28' were collected on February who has been contracted to perform radiological environmental analyses on A summary of the analyses is given below:

1980.

Tritium Concentration Location 177 pCi/l T-7 333 pCi/l

  • Lake between T-1 and T-2, es 100 yards of f shore 283 pC1/1
  • Marsh between T-7 and Station 794 pCi/1 Station drainage sample at manway 2737 pCi/l
  • Lake between T-7 and station discharge
  • Samples through ice Since the tritium from one of the above analyses was higher by a factor of appro d t mately ten as compared to control samples, the analysis is reportable in accor an with Environmental Technical Specification 5.4.2.B.

Based on the tritium concentration in the station's discharge and codels used NUREG-1.33 for dilution, the tritium concentration pCi/1, the resulting concentration would only be one percent of the limit f The procedure for specifying tricted tritium concentrations given in 10 CFR 20.

Since the tritium' sampling frequency has been revised from quarterly to monthly.

concentration at T-7 is expected to be background most of the time (or very in quently, as much as one percent of 10 CFR 20 limits) the dose to the ne would be less than the design objective.
