Dear Mr.Johnson:

The purpose of this letter is to clarify a commitment made in our March 16, 1990 letter, as related to restoring inoperable fire damper I-411-21-P.

In tha't letter RG&E stated that the replacement damper would be procured and installed by July, 1990.Fire damper I-411-21-P is installed just in front of the spent fuel pool charcoal f ilte drawers.This f ire damper has been procured and received.During the attempted installation of this fire damper, it.was determined that the new damper would not allow the charcoal filter drawer to be pulled out/changed.

A non-conformance report (NCR)has been written to resolve this interference.

The existing damper will remain in place.The planned resolution of the NCR is to design a removable track which will allow the charcoal drawer to be manipulated.

This design will require approval from Ruskin, the manufacturer of the damper to ensure U.L.listing is not voided.If this resolution requires downgrading the 3 hour3.472222e-5 days <br />8.333333e-4 hours <br />4.960317e-6 weeks <br />1.1415e-6 months <br /> U.L.listing, RG&E proposes to remove the existing frame and damper and install a larger damper which would allow proper clearances for charcoal filter drawer manipulations.
