I John White,-.May 29 2007.doc *Page 1 1 Indian Point Energy Center Status Report May 29, 2007 Operational Status -1P2 Shutdown to Repair Valve Control room operators manually shut down Indian Point Unit 2 at 3:47 p.m on Monday to repair a valve in the feedwater system. Earlier in the day, operators reduced power to approximately 15 percent power after noting a decrease in steam generator level. Operators opened a parallel, low-flow by-pass valve but were unable to maintain adequate level in the steam generator for full power operations.

• The Engineering department working with operations and maintenance developed a trouble shooting plan which included a stroke test on the valve.

The Feed Regulator Valve is located in the auxiliary feedwater building on the non-nuclear side of the plant. Each steam generator has a feed regulator valve in the feed water line that supplies water to the steam generators The unit is currently in MODE 2 at 2 percent reactor power where it will remain while the feedwater valve is repaired. The unit should be reconnected to the grid by midweek.

Indian Point Unit 2 was on-line for 90 days before the shutdown.

Unit 3 is operating at 100 percent reactor power and has been on line for 27 days.
