Susquehanna ECCSpump/motor overloads wereresolvedthroughrefinedanalysisasdiscussed intheRef.1teleconandletter.Asummaryofthemethodusedinthereanalysis ofthemotorthrustbearingandfoundation boltoverloads isprovidedbelow'.oThecalculated maximummomentary upthrustanddownthrust loadsthattheRHRandCSpumoshaftsimposedonthemotorshaftsexceededtheallowable valuesshownonthemotoroutlinedrawings; however,asdemonstrated withadditional calculations, theloadsdidnotexceed'omponent capabilities.
Forexample,theratedthrustcapacities ofthethrustbearingswerefoundtobehigherthanthecalculated thrustloadvalues.Thesethrustbearingsarealsosupported bymechanical parts(endshield,guideplate,fasteners, etc.);there-.fore,the'tresses inthesemechanical partswerecalculated andthestresseswerefoundtobelessthantheircorresponding allowable values.Lowerendshield stresscalculation sheetsareattachedasanexample.Themethod,assumption detaildrawings, etc.,arecontained inthereferenced ORF.'ITheresultsandthemethodoftheabove'analyses havebeenindependently verifiedandcontained inthereferenced designrecordfiles.APPROVEO:
