EnclosedisRevision7toAppendixBtotheGinnaStationQualityAssuranceManualwhichdescribestheInserviceInspectionforthe1980-1989Interval.ThisrevisionprovidesclarificationtothepreviouslyrevisedintervalstartdatesforQualityGroupBandCcomponentsandforHighEnergyPipingOutsideofContainmentinspection.EnclosedRevision7alsoprovidesclarificationforscopeandextentofexaminationsassociatedwithQualityGroupBandCpressuretestingwhichareconsistentwithourprogramcommitments.TheInterval1startdateforGroupsBandCwas40monthslaterthanforGroupA.PriortothestartofInterval2Iitwasdeterminedthateliminatingthe40-monthoffsetwouldbebeneficialbyhavingtheInterval2datesforthethreegroupscoincide.Howeverithepreviousrevisionsdidnotclearlydepictthetransition-induced40-monthoverlapforGroupBandCInterval1completionofMay1983andInterval2startofJanuary1980;Earlyinthesecondinterval>itwasalsodeterminedthatour10-yearprogramforHighEnergyPipingOutsideofContainment<whichalsoformallycommencedin1973shouldbeadjustedtocoincidewiththeintervalstartdatesforGroupsAIBandC.AswithGroupsBandCIthetransitionwascompletedearlierthisyeariandallpipinggroupsareembarkingonthesecond40-monthperiodofthesecondinterval.ArelatedproposedchangetoGinnaTechnicalSpecificationsisbeingsubmittedtoidentifythesecondandsubsequentintervaldates.Itsaccompanyingsafetyevaluationindicatesthatthechangeinintervaldateswillnotaffectthehealthandsafetyofthepublic>sincethedateshiftwasinaconservativedirection,resultinginanincreaseincomponentsurveillanceduringtherecentlycompleted40-monthtransitionperiod.8312280377831220'PDRADOCK050002448PDRil III~II'4J)l8 Mr.DennisM.CrutieldDecember20>19830Page2Revision7hasbeenimplementedsinceitisconservativewithrespecttothecurrentTechnicalSpecifications.Verytrulyyours,JohnE.NaierEnclosure gC4Jc
