SUBJECT:
NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF EXTENDED POWER UPRATE REGARDING BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 (TAC NOS. MC3812, MC3743, AND MC3744)
Dear Mr. Hurt:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) regarding the Tennessee Valley Authoritys (TVAs) application for extended power uprate (EPU) for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Units 1, 2, and 3. Enclosed is a copy of the draft EA. The associated Federal Register Notice of Availability, was published on November 6, 2006 (71 FR 65009). This notice advises the public that the draft EA is publicly available at the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at http://www/nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams/web-based.html. The accession number for the draft EA is ML062260093.
The NRC staff found that the proposed action would not result in any significant impacts to any Federally listed species or critical habitat. Also, the NRC has issued a draft Finding of No Significant Impact. The public comment period for the EA closes on December 6, 2006.
Please submit any comments you may have by that date. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Ms. Eva Brown, Project Manager, Browns Ferry Units 2 and 3, or Ms. Margaret Chernoff, Project Manager, Browns Ferry Unit 1.
Sincerely, L. Raghavan, Chief Plant Licensing Branch II-2 Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket Nos. 50-259, 50-260, and 50-296
