Dear Mr. Johnson:

The purpose of this letter is to clarify a commitment made in our March 16, 1990 letter, as related to restoring inoperable fire damper I-411-21-P. In tha't letter RG&E stated that the replacement damper would be procured and installed by July, 1990. Fire damper I-411-21-P is installed just in front of the spent fuel pool charcoal filte drawers. This fire damper has been procured and received. During the attempted installation of this fire damper, it. was determined that the new damper would not allow the charcoal filter drawer to be pulled out/changed.

engineering and installation work. A definitive schedule for the resolution of the fire damper to operable status will be provided within the next sixty (60) days.

RG&E has established an hourly fire watch in accordance with Technical Specification 3.14.6.1 until other compensatory measures can be approved and implemented.
