NUREG-0737 POST-TMI REQUIREMENTS CLARIFICATION OF ITEM II.F.1 EXCEPTIONS In our letter of December 15, 1980 (Serial No. 985), Vepco stated that some design information regarding the gaseous effluent monitoring systems required by NUREG-0737, Item II .F .1 (Parts 1 and 2) would not be available by the required date of January 1, 1981. It was also stated that the final imple-mentation date of January 1, 1982 would be met and that the missing design information would be provided prior to this implementation date. This letter will provide additional clarification of our position regarding this schedule exception.

The design information which was not provided in our December 15, 1980 submittal was omitted due to the lack of vendor supplied specific design and operating information. Accordingly, a final design description and as-built system drawings were not available. This vendor information is being received by Vepco in time to meet the implementation date of January 1, 1982. It is our intention to have available for review all final design information including final system drawings by November 1, 1981. Final station procedures to calibrate and operate these systems would not be available by November 1, 1981 but would, however, be available prior to the scheduled illlplementation date. The basis for these.procedures is part of the vendor supplied informa-tion. These vendor supplied "operating instructions" could be provided as a preliminary description of the final operating procedures, if necessary.

VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY RICHMOND,VIRGINJA 23261 May 29, 1981 Mr. Harold R. Denton, Director Serial No. 333 Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation NO/DWL:ms Attn: Mr. Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director Docket Nos. 50-280, 50-281 Division of Licensing 50-338, 50-339 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission License Nos. DPR-32, DPR-37 Washington, D. C.
