CESSATION OF OUTAGE ACTIVITIES j This updates the PN of Octe er 16, 1987, concerning the licensee's cessation of-outage activities.

d l The. reactor core has been completely defueled. ESF 4160 VAC buses are '

t re-energized except for the-cubic M damaged during the fatal. accident. Steam l

generator draining'and refilling has been accomplished, and the steam generators q are currently in recirculation.-

The licensee has formed four task groups: one to' investigate each of the four l incidents. The licensee will make written commitments"and will. conduct a. i briefing of the-Region prior to resuming-significant work on safety-related

, items. The Region has agreed that certain items may be' worked during the work l slippage. Examples are pipe wall thinning measurements and fire penetration 1 seal inspection and repair.

NRR is now planning to conduct a SS0MI inspection. The= inspection is l tentatively scheduled to commence November 2, 1987.

1 l The licensee issued a routine, weekly press release which-included information on the work stoppage.

a8 The state of Kansas nas been informed of.the outage stoppage.
